This is the video of Dauna’s Leadership West Liberty Presentation at the 2012 Graduation ceremony.
Leadership West Liberty is a program of the West Liberty Economic Development Area Organization, and the Leadership class is offered each year. Graduates work on a project during the year and present their work during the graduation.

After its final testing phase, The Celestial Toymaker will be packaged for delivery to the publisher. Although it is a very detailed scene that includes several interactive activities and many scripts, the activities run one after the other without excess use of resources.
Ways to Interact w/the Puppet Theater
The build is 230 prims (165 allocated to comfy fixed view and unobstructed seating). The theater may be used for live performances or connected to other devices for use. Information about how to use Edummersive worlds with other devices is coming soon. There are some interesting new ways to deliver 3D for life size that we plan to use.

It is resourceful and less expensive to mix canvas tools with actors a single director or illustrator can move around a stage. In this case the backdrop was built inworld using Second Life 3D tools and the actors were created with 2D and 3D Reallusion movie making software.
Coming soon and following the lead of game makers, single avatars (personal and character representations) will enter into all sorts of venues via the web. Until then they can be superimposed (with or without motion).

While working on the puppet theater a need for a relatively low prim and low profile aircraft hangar was determined. The Wayfare Airlaunch came about after months of working with different sized creations. The Wayfare easily connects to the Tardis, functions well with Novatech’s 123 aircraft launcher, and hooks up to the dark hallway system that is efficient and fun to use. Work will progress over the next month until all systems are a go. Then will be handed over for review along with the Puppet Theater. Since the hangar is a low cost, low profile and low bandwidth alternative to higher end airports, its purpose should be easily understood. The puppet theater will require some explanation and backstory. Sounds like a creative writing project is in the offing. Education is not solely about learning strategies for more learning. Immersion education is learning for fun throughout a lifetime.

Paintbox Farms, an edummersiveworlds.org lesson group is pleased to announce Winter Story Park is now published by Horizons, a Second Life Novatech holodeck builder.
Work also continues on the Celestial (working title Argyle Puppet Theater) Puppet Theater. A child friendly balcony includes power up animation, rocking chairs, and held in the cosmos by hot air balloons. Normally the puppet theater would stand alone, but this summer work will begin on a larger holodeck (3D world) dedicated to the cerebral Dr. Who episode, The Celestial Toymaker.
Fan or creative fiction engages and often inspires students to write their own version of events. What if? and What happened after or before episodes? are questions that teach problem solving skills – higher order thinking done the fun way. The theater and other props included in the world are illustrations for other formats (enhanced books, games, videos).

There are different ways to provide information on a project — educational, academic, or otherwise — that affect the way the information is understood. Below is an example of information on a new project through the integration of (physical) reality and (virtual) reality with a couple characters and a storyline tossed in for good measure. At the end of the post is a less integrated summary about the project. It is no less true, although perhaps less edutaining (and without the author’s tongue in her cheek).

Ruby O’Degee and Professor Lekato, two members of our building team and our IC In-World Executive Representatives Extraordinaires…., have been busy overseeing the construction of the virtual office spaces in Second Life. Work began just before the Holiday Season, and paused while some of the team (namely Ruby and the Professor’s Assistant, Ghaelen) made merry in the Winter Story Park.
Today the building resumed in order to complete the spaces for a mid-January opening.
In spite of the snowfall, the buildings are now in place, and the interior construction work is well underway. Neither did snow or blustery winds or even nightime stop the builders from progressing. In a day or two the office furniture will arrive, as will the desks, tables, computers, artwork, smart boards, telephones and other equipment & furnishings.
The spaces are designed for a number of activities, including:
- Board, staff, and committee meetings
- Tours, Events, and Conferences with community members
- These include communities of teachers, students, and local residents.
- Classroom spaces for live or taped educational activities
- Gallery space for creative experimentation and artist showings
- Portals to story and history locations for classroom use and community enjoyment

Professor Lekato likes to take time from her Archeological site to supervise the Office Construction. While some believe she is an academic genius, Ruby sometimes feels the Professor’s theories are
….theoretically….
for the birds.
For her part, the Professor is rather happy with the way Ruby made the sign…
For our part, we are content to keep you updated on the progress of the office space, and will add more visuals as construction nears completion. We have no comment on the Professor’s theories, nor on the birds nesting on the Professor’s Hat.
More images of the construction below.
The construction of these virtual offices are also part of a forthcoming Leadership West Liberty Project sponsored by West Liberty Economic Development, a local not-for-profit organization that offers the Leadership course to local and area residents. I am a member of this year’s class and represent the local Edummersive Worlds West Liberty Office. The project will be a layered blend — a physical and virtual art show designed to be aesthetically pleasing, technologically intriguing, and educationally advantageous in that it demonstrates to our community (and others) the benefits of 3D virtual technology in teaching and in local events.

Work continues on the Argyle Celestial Puppet Theater. Actors and props represented by cards now appear and move about the stage with the touch of a director’s button. Curtains and backdrops open and close with another director’s button.
The first play, a Robin Hood forest play will be created next. Up to 20 actors, props and screens can be open and closed to change set decorations. Costumes will be purchased or made to dress avatars to be photographed. The stage can also be used for real-time plays, but the real purpose for the automatic stage and actor position changes is to eliminate the need for avatars, and to replicate better the uses for the Victorian inspired toy puppet theaters.

Sometimes we find ourselves testing this system or that tool, but today its been all day fun. Building a puppet theater that will be completely run by touch, including the actor’s stage positions is simply the most fun I’ve had in a long time. Inspired by Victorian puppet theaters that were operated by wire push, the backdrop is colorful and whimsical. Of course, building the backdrop is only the first part that needs to be done. Next comes the inside slides and the props. The last step is the adding actors. The completed “toy” will be delivered and used in various ways.
